I hate my new job

I started a new job this week and I really don't like it...I'm going to give a while and hopefully it will get better...Does anybody have any advice on how to cope with this sort of thing? Somebody has had to go through something like this before.

If this is a serious post(i.e. not trolling) what about it do you hate? New company, different geographical location, different shift hours?

Either make it a job that you love (or can at least tolerate reasonably well), or don't do it.

No troll, same company, different department...I work in mental health...They reorganized and I moved to work with a different age group and population...It's not what I thought it would be...I'm all about being positive and giving it a chance, but I feel like my talents aren't with the group I'm working with...If any of that makes sense.

I appreciate the offer, but moving isn't an option now...I'm in Eastern PA.

move, no shame in that. its already hard enough dealing with mental health cases (as altruistic and compassionate as it is), if you're not enjoying it, you can't give it your all, and if you can't give it your all, your clients/patients will also suffer. just my two cents.

It's getting bearable...I'm really good at it, though, so I'm going to hang in for a while...It's definitely not where I see myself in the future...Thanks for the feedback and encouragement.

No shame in admitting you made a mistake in making the move to a different department.

Takes a big man to admit he was wrong. Big men appreciate such (meaning your boss.)

Frankly discuss the issues. Show you are a team player and willing to do what needs to be done in the short term for the good of the team but that long term you will need to move back - or someplace else.
