I have a question about the quality of white tail deer meat from a paleo perspective. I know grass fed farm animals and wild game are the preferential meat sources for a paleo diet, but what if the wild game lives in farm country where corn and soybeans are raised? Would I expect the deer meat to have lower levels of Omega 3 and higher levels of Omega 6? The meat appears to me to still be incredibly lean. Anyone have any thoughts on wild game that is getting some of its caloric intake from non paleo sources?

I'd venture they still have a much lower total caloric intake and higher activity level than domesticated sources of meat, so I would still expect them to be lean.

It should be very lean and the n-3/n-6 ratio should not be skewed overly as they are not fed exclusively corn/soybeans like domesticated animals.

Thanks for the responses.

I hunt primarily in farm land while my buddy hunts up in the northern forests. There is a big difference in taste between the steaks from my deer and the steaks from the swamp bucks he shoots. It just led me to think that while I was shooting the tastier animal he was shooting the healthier one.

Just the little thoughts that keep me up at night.
