Re: Paleo with Carb Back-Loading Principals

After you said that I looked at the article date, it is from 2008, So maybe he is saying these diets that are just becoming popular have actually been around for a couple of years.

Who knows, I dont want to get in the middle.

Even the stupidest fad diets manage to get some things right.

How is it a fad if it is and has been stating the same stuff that you post? What makes one thing a fad and the **** you post gospel?

Keifer pupils he'd Carb Nite in 2005 and Carb backloading sometime before 2010, so they have been around for a while, especially in the bodybuilding sector.

As I said, even the stupidest fad diets manage to get some things right. It's the other stuff, the unnecessary and overcomplicated rules about what you can or can't eat, when you should eat etc based on pseudo-scientific theories and anecdotal evidence rather than peer reviewed science that makes it a fad diet.

I haven't read his book, however I have read enough about the diet in online and print magazines and numerous discussions here and on other forums to recognise it for what it is.

What you need to understand is Kiefer has not made some scientific breakthrough with CBL. The basic template of this diet has been around for decades, being rebranded with some minor variations every few years for a new audience. And like all fad diets it works in the short term because people tend to pay attention to what they eat while they're on a diet, and maybe even do a little more exercise, which affects energy balance causing weight loss.

These diets are pretty sound. They have been around for a while. I wouldn't call them fad diets. I'm very skeptical of these diets and that's why I took so long to try them. The Renegade Diet is as sound as I've seen.

If it works, who cares?

Get off your soap box

EDIT: Darryl I was curious, so I entered my stats into your calculator. Calorie amount was pretty accurate, but it only suggested 67g of protein...

I tried it a while ago and it said I should be eating 67 GR of Protein and 400 GR of Carbs. And 3000 calories. That would make me fat as hell.
