Back in the Saddle

I'm a 28 year old male, about 210 lbs, likely 10-15 lbs overweight. I did Crossfit with some regularity a few years back, and saw some great fitness results. My main problems were strength and those blasted pull-ups.

I'd been fooling myself with a less intense workout regimen lately, and when mixed when some holiday cheer, I just bumped up a pants size. I've been back in a serious routine for about 2 weeks, but I feel I need some direction for the first few months of 2010.

I did a basic strength set yesterday to see what I could maintain:

3x5 squats at 175 (as low as I could go, below parallel)
3x5 bench press at 155
3x5 deadlifts at 185

I really concentrated on form, so I could have added a bit of weight, but I felt comfortable with my technique at these weights.

I've looked over the Starting Strength routine. I think I would def. add strength, but I wouldn't be meeting my first goal of bumping back down to my previous weight by packing all those extra calories for mass. I had previously followed the Main Page WOD, but I felt my strength always lagged, and rarely performed as Rx'd. At best, I hit a CFT of about 675 (120 press, 250 squat, 305 deadlift) after several months.

Any recommendations?

Re: Back in the Saddle

SS would be good for you. Gomad would not.
