Re: Crossfit baseball

I'd wager not.

Baseball is not such a specialized sport that you need a program different from the main page. Being a better generalist will make you a better baseball player.

What those site's (CF Anaerobic Endurance (formerly CFE) and CF Football) do is skew the work capacity graph toward one end (aerobic for CFE and strength for CF Football) while trying to maintain an even balance over everything. Ask yourself for Baseball: What do I need to be better at? Do you need to move immense amounts of weight in short periods? Or do you need to be able run long distance(+10k) quickly? I'm guessing not. Chance's are for baseball you need well rounded strength, great short and middle distance speed as well as agility, some aerobic endurance, and great core stability. This is pure mainsite programming.

Nothing says you can modify workouts to include your sport specific skills. Do Angie with a couple of grounders in between every 25 reps. Practice sprinting 90' for workouts where short distance are called for. Be creative with it.

Why do you think you need a special site for baseball?

Re: Crossfit baseball

Baseball is a more skill-specific game in that it requires you to be good at throwing, hitting, catching, etc. Of course basic strength, explosive running/speed, agility/balance are important but sports like football require a greater balance of basic fitness and sport specific skills.

So with football and rugby on one end of the fitness/skill spectrum, you might say something like golf is on the other...less physical prowess and lots of specific skill. Actually, something like CF would be on one end of the broad fitness vs. specific skill spectrum.

Just my observation

Check out this article (WFS) about Josh Everett training the UC Riverside baseball team. Solid stuff, from what I remember, though I haven't read it in awhile: http://journal.crossfit.com/2007/02/...l-fall-con.tpl

Re: Crossfit baseball

Great article.

Holy smokes:
Quote:
Outfielder Carl Uhl boasts a 308-lb. power clean, 430-lb. back squat, 7:44 Helen, and 29 rounds on Cindy.
And the guy doesn't look big in the photo at all.
