Hello,

I have only been doing crossfit now for about 1 month. In that time I have started gymnastics class and my fitness levels and strength levels are getting better everyday. Not to mention Iam better at my job (firefighter) because of this. My only concern is that I have only seen swimming once as part of the WOD. My background in fitness comes from swimming and I believe it to be excellent as part of any fitness program. How often does swimming appear in a WOD or can I replace any running aspects with it. I agree that some people have'nt got access to a pool and combining different elements in the same workout as swimming back to back may not be possiable. (the very thought of doing squats in a tight pair a speedos makes me cringe)

Matt,

I would believe that you could substitute swimming for other things. When the WOD has called out swimming, I have had to sub something else as I don't have access to a pool. Likewise with rowing.
Also, thanks for the lovely image

Matt,
In a recent WOD on one of the cardio days it said pick your least favourite but available out of a 5k run, 5k row, 10k bike and a 1k swim. From this i'd have thought that you'd be able to work out the distances you can substitute other activities for. i.e. the workout calls for a 10k run = do a 2k swim.

If i'm wrong on this let me know but otherwise, i hope this helps.

Chris.
