5-22-08 "The bear" and boxing

The bear complex with a 95# barbell
Hang squat clean - thruster - behind-the-neck thruster

5 rounds of 7 reps

Didn't time it. Felt good, kept a decent pace

Ten 30-second all-out boxing intervals w/15 seconds rest

Loved hitting the bag! Lots of aggression to get out.

I'm in danger of being out of work as of Wednesday and last night's workout put it ALL OUT OF MY HEAD. Intense exercise is indeed the best drug.

Re: Tim's LOGic

Hey Tim! When life sucks I am pushing myself harder too. Usually it turns out to be a PR Always helps to release stress.
Of course, I do not know your situation, but if it happends... screw it... look at it as an opportunity to learn something new and improve yourself...
BTW good job on box squat PR!

Thanks for the words of encouragement! Everything turned out okay with the job thing. Nothing beats intense exercise for stress relief. When you'rer experiencing that much pain, how can you think of anything else!

5-26 thru 5-27

5-26
rest - exhausted from taking my 2-year-old to the zoo!

5-27

Clean and Jerk singles
155
175
185
205 - miss
185
195

Totally psyched myself out and wasn't able to get 205#. The good news is that 195# is the most weight I've ever put over my head. Never really tried heavy C&Js. Lots of fun and an *** kickin' workout to boot!

Weighted pull-ups w/45#
3
2
2
2

Deep ring push-ups
12
12
12
12

Good workout. Was gonna do my typical ME routine, but wasn't feeling it today. I'm thinking about changing directions a little with my strength work. My mission of building up my strength base is complete. Now that I have a decent baseline level, I may experiment with other things. I'm considering keeping the C&Js in as one of my ME days for now in place of doing squats/presses/cleans individually like I do now. Who knows, maybe not!

Sumo deadlifts with chains

Tough, tough, tough! I like this short rest version--so much more intense and it's convenient when you're in a hurry to get on with your day.

6-1-08 sandbag hill sprints

With a 50# sandbag for 8 rounds

Run up short, steep hill
10 high pulls*
20 push-ups

*started w/full cleans, but they were too much for my sore legs, so switched in rd 3

Time: 29:44

Slow, but speed wasn't a focus today. Very hot.
