I read it was the team, not the NFL that suspended him.

That's even worse for him IMO.

Well-deserved--that could have been a season-ending injury. While he may claim it was an involuntary action that he didn't intend, it was no accident that he was lined up shoulder to shoulder with a handful of non-dressing players right on that line. They were there trying to intimidate the Dolphins' gunners, so when you put yourself in that kind of situation you can't be surprised when something stupid happens.

I still can't think of a good reason for a strength and conditioning coach to even be on the sidelines during a game at all.

I played football for 2 years against Sal in H.S. He was a roid-raging d*ck then; not much has changed.

Well deserved.

Glad to hear of the swift punishment. He should be barred from setting foot on any football field that a NFL game is being played on as well. If the Jets want to keep him as a strength guy, have at it, but never let him on the field during pregame, game or post game activities.

Ironic that a guy who's job is to protect his players from injury and keep them healthy does something like this. He could have ended that guy's career.

Just a thought but could that player have him charged with assault if he felt so inclined?

Re: NFL suspends Jets strength coach rest of season for tripping player

Woody Hayes was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame after he punched an opposing player during a bowl game, assaulted a couple of cameramen, and took a swing at a sports editor. He also once instructed one of his players to take his helmet off and then proceeded to hit the kid. Winning head coaches get away with a lot more crap than strength coaches who don't figure much into the win/loss column.
