What kind of education in the Olympic lifts do you have? I guess it's a little late in the game to be mentioning this, but...

Derek, I didn't know about that one but probably just as well. What I'm holding out for is an Oly cert in Fl. I'm lucky too cuz the guy I do a lot of wods w/, has a years of exp. w/ lifting so I get to learn constantly from him but that's only within the last 6 months or so.
Thanks again Derek for sending the squat rack plans my way. Hopefully this will be my lucky wknd. to get them. They're actually very easy!

Gina - what kind of personal training do you do? Do you work at a CF affiliate?

I am thinking about a career change (at 23, haha) and I am definitely thinking about becoming a personal trainer.

Re: Gina Johnson's Log

Hi Danielle,
What do you do currently? I'm a trainer at a Golds gym in my town but there's an affiliate opening within the next month not far from me - Pt . St. Lucie and I hope to possibly work there as well. The owner does require the trainers be crossfit certified which I am.
It's got it's ups and downs like everything I suppose. I just focus on all the positives and have come to simply accept the negatives since they far outweigh the negatives. The best part of course is that I'm doing what I love and it's hugely rewarding when your clients see continual results. The difference you can make in their lives is huge. As we already know the benefits are so life changing in countless ways... I could go on and on but yes, I would highly recommend it!!

Well, I was a process engineer for the past two years, but I was part of a 108 person layoff two Fridays ago. I am receiving a severance package that could buy me enough time to get certified and *hopefully* find a job. Engineering was fine, however, I didn't feel like it was something I could enjoy forever. I've always enjoyed sports and the gym, so I figure - why not become a PT?!

Well thanks for the response -- I leave for Switzerland on Friday but when I return I am going to get ACE certified

Re: Gina Johnson's Log

Danielle, Good for you! I'm actually in the process of getting ACE certified too. Great choice for a cert. I've got an IFA cert which is crap but it was able to get me a job quickly. I had the years of experience but these days you have to be certified to get in the door. The certification won't make you a great trainer. It's your passion and belief in what you do.

Have a wonderful time in Switzerland !!

Out of curiosity - do you use XF with your clients?
