Have any of you who are running affiliates dealt with issues of handicap access and compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act? A contractor told me yesterday that if I install shower facilities I will have to include a handicap accessible shower, toilet, etc.

That's one concern of mine. We're in the process of getting a studio and because of the training timelines of our clients, I need at least one shower...

Good luck and as we solidify our stuff, I'll post on it.

I did not install a shower. If Curves can skip it, so can Crossfit Sedona.

Besides, Linc has a hose and faucet out in the back for those really in need of a wash! :-)

I understand the argument about Curves, and I think the absence of showers works for them because the client base is housewives who go home afterward to shower, assuming they sweat enough to need one.
My location is downtown Atlanta, and I'm thinking that a portion of the eventual client base will be early AM business men and women who will want to shower after working out and will not be able to go home to do it.
Some may be able to shower at work, but without showers we would lose the one's who could not.

Same with me... while the bulk of our clientele do not shower at the facilities, I do have a number that travel in with distance to train with me and due to that, they must have one...

Lincoln,

Good point about it being dry out there. In Atlanta in the summer time the humidity is almost always over 85%, with temperatures in the 90s.
As they say down South, "It ain't the heat, it's the humility."

And as Tim says, we have a hose and an outdoor faucet. This time of year we use it for post-exercise cryogenic therapy.
