Got my first MU on the rings without a kip. Hadn't tried them on the rings in a while. Last week I was practicing just pulling up to the transition as high as I could and trying to get the elbows around. Was going to practice that part again today and I just went Pop! into the dip. I think I got about 5 muscle ups that way this morning. I put it into a sequence of MU, L-sit, Skin The Cat, and a best-effort front lever. (The front lever is still a work in progress!)

Nice work Linc, form was decent too. Looks like you have those rings spaced just about perfectly.

Now to improve....
Turn the rings out in your support and L.
Try to make the MU keeping legs straight and tight.
Work on lowering into the skin the cat straight body through a back lever.

Wohoo!

Was just looking around and saw your thread and the video. That is sweet Lincoln! Great job. Can't wait to get my rings. Should hopefully be in the next shipment! After watching your vid, I'm not sure my garage has tall enough ceilings to do everything. May have to improvise, or work on pieces until I figure out somewhere with more headroom. I'm guessing those are 10' ceilings where you are. I'm pretty sure my garage is only 8'. It looks like you are cutting things pretty close as it is. Grabbing the rings while standing flat footed, and seemingly hair touching the ceiling during the L-sit. Pull ups, dips, body rows, L-sits seem to be in my future. Congrats again, great work.

Outstanding Lincoln!
Ever since reading Greg Everett's article in the recent Performance Menu about manly v. spastic muscle ups I've been wearing myself out trying not to be a spaz. Still a long way to go.
Congratulations.

Pretty good.

Ever try backwards roll to inverted pike ?( thru to a skin the cat ) I'm not sure you'd have enough room. Just something different than the negative of the muscle up ( that is still a good way to do it ). You could also muscle down to hanging L, pull to inverted hang-back levering through to skin the cat ending up in a long hang position ( german hang ).
For those that don't have enough room, I'd say just tuck or straddle it.

It will take me a while just to work that out in my head!

Yesterday I did rounds of one muscle up (dead hang, feet together, starting from a slight pike) and two negative HSPUs from the floor, for 45 minutes. Didn't count, but I'm pretty sure I got 20-30 muscle ups with no misses. So all in all, pretty good progress with the MUs in July.

Next up - consecutive MUs.
