Oly Cert

Hello everyone,

I'm looking at the possibility of attending one of the Oly Certs and was looking for some thoughts. I am decent at Snatch & Clean and Jerk. I know that additional training would benefit me, but I'm curious to hear from folks who have attended it and what their views of the cert are. If there is anyone out there who has attended one of the CF Oly Certs please let me know your opinion of it and why you feel it was either "worth" it or not.

Thanks all!

Joe_T.

Re: Oly Cert

Attended the Oly cert with Josh Everett and Kirk Woolfolk last month.

I cannot recommend this cert highly enough, it is WELL worth the investment. Your own lifts will greatly improve and your ability to teach other will as well. By orders of magnitude.

Re: Oly Cert

If you are coaching, or plan on coaching, it's a must.

Re: Oly Cert

I went to a 4 hour seminar this past weekend and it cost me 40 bucks. I'm a total novice but had more experience than half the room. I learned a TON. Maybe you should look around at a seminar first .... just make sure the coach is reputable.

Re: Oly Cert

Took the Oly Cert last month, taught by Josh Everrett...my oly lifting has improved by a TON in technique, as well as my ability to teach it.

Worth it.

Re: Oly Cert

Not to threadjack, but what would you guys say compared to a USAW cert? Please only answer if you've actually attended both.

Re: Oly Cert

I have been to several CF Oly certs, taught by both Coach B as well as Josh, and I have been to a USAW cert.

The USAW cert spends a lot more time on classwork and book stuff. It was a good cert and I still learned quite a bit, but it was no where near as comprehensive as the CF Oly cert. It also seems like there are a lot of little clinics popping up all over the place and those seem to be being lead by some well known lifters. If you are looking to coach better, I would say go to a CF Oly cert, there is just too much knowledge floating around at these and Burg has assembled some of the best lifters in recent US history to teach for him when he can't make it to teach himself.

Re: Oly Cert

Hey John, what's the academic piece of the USAW cert like? I've been kicking around the idea of going and was wondering about the differences. I realize it's probably proprietary, so generalities are cool.

Ditto what John said about the caliber of instruction at the non-Coach B certs. We had Josh Everett and Kirk Woolfolk.
