What's with the boxing style used by Fedor and Igor V.? They throw a lot of loopy type punches, and it seems like they turn their hands over. It's extremely effective for them.

Does anyone know anything about this? Where can I find more info?

I could be completely wrong, but I think that kind of punching is from Sambo. I saw a Sambo video some time ago with a segment about the punching style. Can't recall the title or where I saw it so please correct me if I am totally off base.

Actually, I see that kind of punching in many of the Russian Martial Arts and Combat Systems. Systema and a few others.
We call it the crazy russian vodka haymaker.
It's a very whiplike motion that seems to use the elbow and strike down.
The knuckles line up to the forearm similar to a punch with a vertical fist. It's just at that crazy angle.

Neal, check out www.russiancombatacademy.com
amd www.russianmartialart.com
I have trained with a couple of these guys. Great stuff, but very different.
Blair's post about the whip-like punch is very accurate, and they are do some damage when they hit!

Neal, the owner of the Russian Combat Academy Sonny Puzikas, is the guy we have coming in next month to do a Russian Strength & Conditioning Workshop.
Those who are interested in his other workshops can contact him directly. Tell him you know me if you do.
I highly recommend the DVDs that Sonny, Mikhail,& Vladimir put togehter.
