A new movie, based on the book by Dan Millman is coming out Friday, Jan 2. I came across it about a month off Fandango and got real jazzed because I met Dan at Congress ( got his tramp video too that I've been watching lately ) and of course because it's a gymnastics movie that I'm interested in seeing ( do not mention gymkata, and Stick It ain't really my thing ).
I posted this over on Drillsandskills and on my myspace ( not that anyone on my list probably saw it and cared ).
Perhaps there are a few gymnastic people here @ Cf that might be interested. Or those that are interested in Dan Millman/philosophy/yadda yadda

I'll miss the Berkeley showing tomorrow due to my tumbling class that ends at 745.
It's not listed but looks to be playing for about a week in San Rafael@Northgate.

Have fun.

Thanks for the "heads up," Blair. I liked the book and, based on the trailer, it looks like the movie is going to be good also. I'll probably have to wait for the movie to make it to DVD because it's not going to be playing in Alabama anytime soon.

Yeah, gymnastics movies thus far don't have a good track record. Gymkata, American Anthem, Stick it... Yikes. I haven't seen "stick it" but, well...

If you find out when the Northgate showing is let me know.

I can almost give 'Gymkata' points for so-bad-its-good. Kurt Thomas(wasn't that the star?) was also endorsing the Chuck Norris home gym so thats badass by association as well.

Didn't see 'Stick It', not to be confused with "William Shakespeare's Stick It" I'm sure.

I really liked the book and I'm very excited about the movie. I was going to drive up to Berkeley to see it but I think I'll wait until it's at a more convenient location instead.

The movie looks like it will be good... unlike all of the other gymnastics movies. :-)

My wife liked Stick It, then again, she is an ex-gymnast and we own Legally Blonde...

I actually think this movie will strongly affect her, as an injury ended her professional dance career almost before it started...

"In the ranks of improbable gymnastics coaches, Nick Nolte falls just below the cartoon version of Mr. T. "
- from Entertainment Weekly's review of the film.

The trailer looks good. I love inspirational movies especially ones that are based on true stories. I will add this one to my "must see" list also.

Life changing book for me. Nick Nolte is likely not my first choice for Socrates...but hey, it should be good!
