Crossfit and Weight lifting?

Hey guys,

Lately I've been thinking about joining a crossfit gym located close to my home. I ran across it while i was home for spring break, and since I'll be home in about 3 weeks for summer break, I thought i might try it out since I've heard nothing but good things about the program.

Anyways, over the past few months, I've been lifting weights and doing cardio 6 days a week, both pretty intensely to help me lose weight. This summer though i'd like to mix it up a little. My question is, can you do both a Crossfit program and a heavy Weight session, or would that be over training it? I'd definitely like to continue building muscle and getting stronger, but at the same time, I'd also like to cut down on some fat a little quicker.

Like I said, i'm new to this, so any input is well appreciated.

Talk to the trainer to see if you can do a strength biased hybrid

Re: Crossfit and Weight lifting?

We do both at my Box all the time. almost half of our class time is dedicated to strength training.

Re: Crossfit and Weight lifting?

My box does the same as Chris's. Our classes are an hour long and we generally spend the first 30min or so on oly lifts followed by our WOD. We normally have some days in a week were we will shoot for our ME, some where we do 75-80% of our max, and some where we just work on technique with lighter weights.
