Hi everyone, just a heads up, this will probably be a bit long winded.

Okay, here we go: I was turned on to this program about a week ago by a fellow firefighter. Neither of us have actually gotten into the routine of Crossfit as of yet. I have been reading the website religiously daily though, specifically the FAQ and watching the workout videos. I am just trying to clear my mind of body building philosophy and make sure I truly understand the Crossfit principles. The more I read the more excited I get about this.

My buddy is currently building a Crossfit gym in his garage, but he lives about an hour away from me. So that leaves me in a spot. Gas and overall convenience considered, that will not work out well. I realize I can do this program without weights, and other equipment, but in the long run I believe that the weighted exercises(specifically the Olympic lifts) will have a terrific impact. I did not see any affiliates in Broward county on the affiliate page. Do any of the members down here know of a Crossfit friendly gym? I currently do not have a living situation that is conducive to working out at home either(that should change in the next 5-6 months or so when I buy a house). Or any other suggestions?

Well, thanks for reading my ridiculously long post. I hope to become an active and successful Crossfitter and to spread the word. Thanks for you time.

Try looking on in your area to buy some cheap weights.

Re: New in South Florida

Definitely check out Randy.
If you are up for an olympic lifting seminar/certification, then
plan on getting out here to Longwood, FL (near Orlando) and bring
your firefighter friends!
If you are new to olympic lifting, then come out to Coach Burgener's
Oly cert on March 15 + 16. It's on the CrossFit main pg.
Any questions, please feel free to give me a call anytime.
Best of luck,

Hi Heath,

Check out this thread. It has lots of ideas on workouts you can do at the firehall.

Re: New in South Florida

Hey Heath....I have been involved since March. Gold's in Pines used to be set up so it would be possible to the WOD. I am currently doing Crossfit workouts at Gold's in Sunrise as well as a local park. Let me know if you are interested. Also, I will be going to Gulf Coast Crossfit on 9/8 for an Oly day....Frank's a great guy. If you interested in that as well, check out his site and let me know if you want to can hitch a ride with me.
