1.74m / 79kg / 26% bodyfat ?
Hi I'm Anthony,
my weight machine tells me I'm 79kg for 21kg of bodyfat --> 26% of bodyfat... First of all, does it sound ok regarding my height ? Then, I heard about "target weight" in many diet but I think it's a non-sense. But is there a relation between height and a "good" weight for sport ? I read on Paleo diet on Crossfit forum but is there any other diet you can advise ? Thx |

Re: 1.74m / 79kg / 26% bodyfat ?
Most body fat measurements are horribly inaccurate. I wouldn't take that 26% number too seriously. Do you like what you see in the mirror?
With that said, most athletes -- including most female athletes -- will be substantially leaner than that. Energy spent moving excess mass around is energy that you can't use for whatever the goals of your sport are. "Excess" is defined by the sport, though. Football players don't look like gymnasts. As for diet: Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants. (Food means stuff that your grandmother would recognize as edible, not processed pseudofood. Not too much, meaning an amount that supports your weight and performance goals. Plants meaning fruits and vegetables in particular.) Katherine |

Thanks for taking time to answer.
So no meat / fish / pasta / rice / whey protein / bread / pita / olive oil / bamba / bissli / homemade cake ? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Knowing that I live in the middle east and that my wife is a Chef... it's gonna be hard for long time diet but doable on short goal one (mean 1-3 months). Quote:

On diet, my own view is that you can eat whatever you want in moderation. Meat and vegetables should be the core that meals build around. People have different opinions about just how much of other foods it's okay to have, but not many people will argue about a diet based on meat and vegetables.
