Today was a sucky day. My cold has become more unpleasant, and I cut my workout short after the squats. Too much trembling and intense body heat going on (yes, much more than the usual...). But at least I got the squats done. Better than nothing.

Ha, my bench arrived! All gods bless all couriers. Wasn't expecting there to be so much more forearm tension in the bench, compared with the shoulder press, so that was interesting. Anyways. Got a little more weight on the squat, and I think I detected it being a teensy bit less horrendous than last time, so my legs must be getting there....

Ahhh. What a lovely feeling, being thoroughly beat up after lifting stuff. Can't touch it. Anyways.
Definitely continuing to improve, which is the main thing, and it's still very much a struggle, which is the second-to-main thing. And I love it. This helps too. -------------------- Squat - 20kgx5x3, 30kgx5, 40kgx4, 50kgx3, 60kgx5x3 Press - 10kgx5x3, 20kgx5, 30kgx5x3 Did something unpleasant to my back at work today (our lift is broken so the mailbags have to be hauled up two flights of stairs.... and there's a lot of mailbags) so I decided to go a little lighter (and shorter) today. The back cramps (best way to describe them) are about halfway up my back, on both sides, and though they stayed relatively benign during the squats they then unexpectedly starting screwing me up during the press. Not very nice. Bring on the elevator repair man. |

Kept the squats as they were as my back is mostly recovered, and I want it to stay that way. Glad I got a full set of the BW deadlifts done. Showed my other half how to do the exercises as well, as she's starting to display an interest and wants to try an SS workout tomorrow.... fingers crossed!

Hey, 70kg squats! Pleased with those. Happy with the others as well, but one thing causing me trouble in the press is that I just cannot get my shoulders to be where SS says they should be. It feels like I'm breaking my joints, so I'm having to just hold the bar in front of my shoulders between reps, which is a bit of a sod, to be honest.

Ah, phew! Just about managed managed to get my PC running again after a nasty virus infection. Buggers. So, yesterday's workout:
Wed 15/10/08 --------------- Squat - 20kgx5x2, 30kgx5, 40kgx4, 50kgx4, 60kgx4, 70kgx5, 60kgx5x2 Bench Press - 10kgx5x2, 20kgx5, 30kgx3, 40kgx2, 50kgx5x3 Deadlift - 40kgx5x2, 50kgx5, 60kgx3, 70kgx3, 80kgx5 This was very hard. If I was female I'd suspect some kind of hormonal thing (wow, check out my technical knowledge) because all day I'd been exhausted, forgetful, clumsy (stumbling on pavements, dropping things, and I hit my head getting in and out of my car about ten times. I have never done that before) and just generally a shadow of my usual self. I expected this to have some impact on the workout, and lo! It did. The first and only set of 70kg squats felt like 700kg squats, I barely managed five. After the deadlifts I staggered into the house and just had to sit for a good while. I pray that I'm not getting another cold, because I really, really hate colds. I'm trying not to blame my wife for starting work at a school and thus bringing home every infection known to man.... |
