Starting with about mid-Sept. I notice a lot of the 3-day cycles have their single-exercise "focus" days (running, low-rep heavy lifts of a single exercise, etc.) on day 1 or 3, where it usually used to be day 2.

I'm curious about the rationale -- just changing things up or is there an experiment in progress?

HI,

I am not Coach or Lauren but I just listened to them explain how they create the wod at the seminar this last weekend. While there is a template in one of the journals, and while there is sometime a pattern, they don't really ever stick with a pattern and Coach and Lauren don't really use the template. The template is a way for others to create crossfit workouts. In fact, it seems that when they catch a pattern happening, they will change it up. Variance is one of the keystones of crossfit. So my guess at an answer for you would be that they are changing things up. Of course they are also always watching us to see what happens so it is all one grand experiment!

So let's hope the recent spate of 800m runs is considered a "pattern" and we can see them disappear for a while!!
Seriously, I like the metabolic response WOD's as opposed to the focus days, just in case Coach or Lauren reads this thread!

Hey Ron - another thing we learned in the seminar was that the thing you hate or that you are not good at is exactly what you need to do. This meant I was chanting "I love running. I love running" on a morning wod with 800 meter runs (4 of them after a warm up run that was even longer).

I saw that...!

My wife asked me after the last TGU WOD, "why I was so dirty..?"

It was because I was rolling around on the shed floor for 10 minutes with one arm up in the air supporting a 17kg dumbbell.

And how did you explain that to your wife, Pat? If I didn't know better I would say that sounds pretty fishy!
