Cheat days totally stink

At least for me.

I decided I'd been pretty darn solid on my diet, and made yesterday a cheat day. Even then, I really only cheated on one meak (pizza and birthday cake). It was kinda satisfying, though the cake didn't taste as good as I expected it too.

However, this mornings workout was terrible. I had no energy, and my stomach was rumbling the whole time. I had to end the workout early because everything just felt wrong.

So, beware the cheat meal/day.

Nothing profound, but I figured I'd share.

Re: Cheat days totally stink

Ivan, I know exactly what you mean. I had a cheat day that involved pizza, pasta w/chili & cheese, and potato wedges. Ugh. I was a little smarter about it, though...I did my cheat day on day of the 3 day cycle (and after the last workout) so the next day I was off. At any rate, I don't see myself having a cheat meal any time soon; it's just not worth it.

That's the best/worst thing about Paleo - it's self-reinforcing. I've had the same experiences, each time I do a cheat meal I pay for it.

I've learned to do cheat bites - you can usually steal a bite or two of something and be ok, and that's enough to satisfy the cravings usually, but any more and you know you'll be paying for it!

Re: Cheat days totally stink

I've never performed any worse/better than normal after a cheat meal or day.
As a matter of fact I cheated Saturday and came in to workout Sunday and felt about like normal.

The only time my performance dips is after a night of hard drinking, but I don't do those anymore.

This is definitely true. I find that I don't want to cheat as badly as I used to (ie. a whole dijiorno pizza one Sat. evening). It's so not worth it. Once you eat real food, that fake processed crap all tastes, well, completely fake and processed. Didn't used to since I was so accustomed to it I assume. Cheat *bites* are definitely satisfactory at this point. After a bite or so, I'm good with most things. I love my new palette...give me my meat and eggs and fruit and all that good stuff.

You are are a lucky, lucky dude.

I don't drink at all, but I hardly do cheat meals/days either. Everyone reacts differently, I guess.

I eat real food all the time and it tastes great. Pizza and mexican food still taste like heaven to me though.

Re: Cheat days totally stink

Ivan, I just come on to post about cheat meals. I have found that since going Paleo, my all time favorite "treat" just doesn't taste at all like I remember. I used to LOVE LOVE LOVE a scoop of peanut butter and some choc. chips. I've eaten it 2x since starting Paleo 1.5 months ago and each time it doesn't taste nearly as good as I remember. Funny how that happens!

Re: Cheat days totally stink

I used to get so excited for Girl Scout cookie season. I treated myself to a cheat the other day and wanted to spit out the caramel delight I so thought I was craving. grody.
