why am i not losing weight!
i am getting so frustrated, for about a month now i have been doing the zone diet and working out 5 days a week and being extremely active and my weight it not budging! i am 5'1 and 153 lbs!! i thought for sure because i have totally changed my diet from what is was before and started to workout i would see weightloss off the bat. Can anyone help me out!? also should i maybe try that 30 day paleo challenge diet? how does that work?

1) you may have lost fat and gained muscle. So as hard as it sounds use the mirror as a yard stick, no the scale.
2) Try the paleo challenge. Great job and keep it up! |

Are you getting physically better?
Or are you doing 45 minutes of cardio on the elliptical at the same intensity everyday? Are you doing crossfit? For me, weight loss happened with physical progression as well. If your diet is in check (like you say it is), and you are progressing with duration and intensity in your workouts, then you may want to check your diet again. Go for the paleo challenge. Summed up: Eat meat, vegetables, nuts/seeds, and eat fruit before you work out. (Don't rip this apart) |

i do crossfit 3-4x a week and run on inbetween days. i put up verygood times for all the wods and have seen myself improving like crazy! just the weight isnt coming off. i will try the paleo challenge!

Try cutting carbs to help kick you over into ketosis or something near it. Keep your protein blocks the same, but for every carb block you delete you replace it with 3 fat blocks. So if you're at 14 Zone blocks, you could adjust that to 14P/7C/35F or 14P/5C/41F or something like that. That looks like a lot of fat but your caloric intake will be essentially identical as a base Zone while the lower carb intakes will help you keep insulin under control, particularly if you fill up on mostly low-GI vegetables and fruits. Fat also tends to have more of a satiating effect than carbs, so you will probably feel less hungry.
Those adjustments fit the recommendations for weight loss on MDA's carb continuum post (WFS)--give that article a look sometime. EDIT: Just saw your latest post--it's possible you're overworking yourself and keeping your cortisol levels high, which makes your body want to retain fat. Do a Google search on excess cardio, cortisol, and weight loss problems and see what you can find...I think MDA and ***b **** have written on that subject as well. |

Along with the above advice, I'd cut the running out except for maybe once a week. What you're doing CF-wise is much more beneficial and I'm thinking you could be overtraining by running with Cf 3-4x a week. Overtraining will actually stall fat loss. Make sure you're getting adequate R and R. Just a thought. Keep it up and be patient! Good luck!

Like mentioned before, cut some carbs.
I eat paleo and cut my carbs to 70 grams a day, and have dropped from 15% BF to 13.5% BF in three weeks. (total of about 3 pounds i believe) |
