Work at home jobs???

My wife is trying to find a way to earn a little bit of money from home, just wondering if anybody out there is doing something that works? She has tried to find data entry or medical transcription jobs, but can't seem to find anything...

thanks

What are her skills?

Most "work from home opportunities" that you see advertised are scams or very low-paid piece work. On the other hand, accountants, lawyers, and other self-employed professionals routinely work from home.

Re: Work at home jobs???

she has a marketing/advertising background. Unfortunately there are ZERO companies that do those things down here where we live. I have definitely looked into most of those ads, and you're right there are so many scams out there...

Re: Work at home jobs???

I know lots of self-employed marketing/PR people. Thanks to the internet, location isn't a huge barrier. None of my clients are local, and I have several that I've never met in person. (I'm a writer and consultant.) I'd say pursuing what she already knows how to do is likely to be more rewarding -- personally and financially -- than taking on lower skill work. OTOH, self-employment is a lot scarier than just doing what an employer tells you to. Not everyone has the temperament for it.

Feel free to PM me if I can help with possible resources.

Katherine

Luke, have her check out www.macaronikid.com. wfs.
With her background, it might be a great fit. Click on "become a publisher mom". Full disclosure, my wife started the biz. PM me if you have questions.

Re: Work at home jobs???

If she has any writing skills she can get paid per article at www.demandstudios.com (wfs) My cousin rights for them and earns a little over $500 a month and she doesn't put much effort into it. I've heard of people earning enough to quit their day jobs from it.

Sounds like the write thing for her. For you, maybe not so much.

Argh! How embarrassing. Actually I do like to write. I'm working on several stories right now as a matter of fact. I blame it on the semester just starting and turning my brain to mush.
