Maybe I'm giving up too easy at that point I'll just keep working on it, that's all I can do. It will happen eventually!
I definitely know what you mean! A lot of these max effort strength exercises have a huge mental component, it always throws me for a loop.

Keep working on it and I know you will do it! Good luck!

Re: The Dead-Hang Pull-up Society

How are we doing people? I had a pull-up-groove-greasin' hiatus due to being out of town and such but this morning gave it a whirl and definitely am still higher to the bar than even the last time I tried a week ago. I can jump and hold myself up, lower myself just below the bar and pull myself back up (once). I'm quite pleased. How is everyone else doing? Progress?

Re: The Dead-Hang Pull-up Society

I did it, I did it, I did it!!! Just the other day. I wasn't even thinking about anything...just wandering towards my room with the pull-up bar, dressed for work and everything, and just did a dead hang pull-up, arms straight to chin over the bar and back down. I couldn't believe it.

So I guess I graduated...

Congratulations Julie!!! That's so awesome!

I've been slacking in the GTG-ing of my deadhang recently pretty much due to life. I'm still stuck with midway between my eyes and nose to the bar. I got some more advice from Melissa Byers at the NE Qualifiers last weekend which was awesome! I'll be back to it this week...I'm so sore from this last week of crazy WODs at my affiliate!

Re: The Dead-Hang Pull-up Society

Okay, I am officially joining the Society! I'm working with the bands at my affiliate, and I use the gravitron on days that I go to my regular gym. I've definitely increased the number of reps I can do with the bands, and I've been experimenting with different band thicknesses.

I feel like my first pull-up is so far off, but I guess I should have hope! I wasn't able to do a full pushup 2 months ago. I could barely do 10 pushups from my knees. Well, I finally got my first full pushup in, and then I got in 2 consecutive ones today. Eek, eek, eek...but the progress is there!

Ha...still at the same point...eyes to bar. I have to be honest and admit that I haven't been able to GTG as much as I've wanted too. I really need to work my supinated grip from the bottom because I'm pretty strong with that grip at the top (can pull easy chest to bar once I hop above parallel). Besides working that grip, I need to work them all...that's the major thing she said. My goal now is by the end of the summer, hopefully that will be possible!
