Question I gave up soda... Now what?

I have been soda free for one week now and I am not sure what to drink. I have been drinking a lot more water and a cup of coffee in the morning during the week at work. The only other thing that I drink is a glass of milk here and there and hot tea. Is there anything thing else that you would recommend as a soda replacement? Thanks for the help in advance.

I like flavored seltzer. No sugars/chemicals but I like the fizz!

I drink Iced Tea (unsweetened) with Lemon if I'm not drinking water. I was addicted to Diet Coke for the last 25 years - recently quit drinking it and don't miss it!

Re: I gave up soda... Now what?

I've tried to quit drinking it but I always find my way back to it. I can't stand unsweetened tea and I don't like it with honey or lemon. But I found that with the cancer packets I like it. lol. So it's a lose lose. I drink water but old habits die hard and I have this habit of having to have something flavored while I eat.
It's a tough one, more power to you. This stuff is like crack.

Re: I gave up soda... Now what?

I was a diet soda junkie for years. One day I just got rid of all of the soda in my house and quit cold turkey. There's really no good "replacement" for it, other than good old water. I suppose I'm just lucky in that I don't miss it anymore. I actually tried some Coke Zero last week and I couldn't stand it. The chemical taste was absolutely horrible after eating nothing but real food for the last 6 months.

I guess my advice is just to hang in there. Eventually you won't miss it anymore. =)

Re: I gave up soda... Now what?

Well I quit drinking sodas couple of weeks ago, except for my free day I have one with lunch or dinner. But what I do for the dinner is a glass of Kool-Aid. I'm like the other poster I lover a tasty drink with my meals.

Re: I gave up soda... Now what?

There's this water called "hint" which is both sugar free and artificial sweetener free. They use the "zest" of whatever fruit it's flavored with.

It's not flavorful enough to replace soda or diet soda but its good if you need a bit more flavor than plain water.

I myself drink plain water w/my meals w/the exception of one diet soda once a week.

Diet Cherry Pepsi when I can find it.

Just drink water. Soda is like the worst thing you can consume. Fruit juices are ok in modest amounts. Lots of research shows a nutrient in pineapple juice, called bromelain has good anti-inflammatory properties.

Re: I gave up soda... Now what?

I only drink water and tea these days. I used to get a 64 oz Mountain Dew every day from 7-11 for a good 4 to 5 years, and if that wasn't enough the cases of pepsi filled in the rest. Haven't even tasted soda in over a year. I've forgotten what it tastes like at this point.

I didn't attempt to replace it. I found it best to just accept that and move forward.
