Re: Official Drupal Users Thread

Has anyone tried to put adobe flash into thier banner? I will look into the banner rotation too.

I'm only interested in changing the appearance of the theme, not the framework or functionality.

Re: Official Drupal Users Thread

You would just replace the banner that is currently there with your flash but beware and use this !

The problem is when you browse to admin/ or comment/edit/ etc., the browser adds those onto the $directory and looks for the file in that location. For example, when browsing admin/ or comment/edit, the file link appears to be in http://yoursite.com/admin/[$directory]/myfile.swf or http://yoursite.com/comment/edit/[$directory]/myfile.swf.

Obviously that won't work.

To solve the problem, you need to generate an "absolute" URL to the file. So, instead of $directory, you need to have base_path() . $directory, like on this image tag:

<img src="<?php print base_path() . $directory; ?>/images/12346.jpg" style="padding:0px;margin:0px" />

Re: Official Drupal Users Thread

For you image rotator this is from our theme. Create a php file rotate.php and use this.

<?php

/**
* randomly select an image from the current directory and return it
*
* @todo - consider accepting a local path as $_GET['img'] for overrides
* to remain compatible with Marinelli's rotate.php
*
* (but why? why possible use case is there for linking to
* rotate.php?img=file.gif instead of straight to file.gif?)
*/

$file_types = array(
'gif' => 'image/gif',
'jpg' => 'image/jpeg',
'jpeg' => 'image/jpeg',
'png' => 'image/png'
) ;

$regex = '/\.(' . implode('|',array_keys($file_types)) . ')$/i' ;
$files = array() ;

$directory = opendir(".");
while ( FALSE !== ($file = readdir( $directory )) ) {
if ( preg_match( $regex, $file ) ) {
$files[] = $file ;
}
}

if ( !empty( $files ) ) {

$which = rand(0,sizeof($files)-1) ;

if ( $file = file_get_contents( $files[$which] ) ) {

$parts = explode('.',$files[$which]) ;
$ext = strtolower($parts[sizeof($parts)-1]) ;

header( "Content-type: " . $file_types[$ext] ) ;
header( "Expires: Wed, 29 Jan 1975 04:15:00 GMT" );
header( "Last-Modified: " . gmdate("D, d M Y H:i:s") . " GMT" );
header( "Cache-Control: no-cache, must-revalidate" );
header( "Pragma: no-cache" );

print $file ;

}

}

Now wherever in your CSS that you call that image put somethine like this.

#header {background: #000056 url(img/banners/rotate.php) no-repeat 0px 0px; /*rotates images in the banners folder */}

the "img/banners/rotate.php" could be different depending on where you put it.

Then put your images in the same folder as the rotate.php file.

In the Fusion based themes (Acquia etc) by Topnotchthemes, customisations go in local.css.

It's discussed here http://drupal.org/node/18151 and there are some interesting notes here, http://mydrupalblog.lhmdesign.com/dr...drupal-theming, especially Comment 4.

Without having done it I'd say it's doable, but may not be straightforward.

All sites linked this post are safe for work and family viewing.

Re: Official Drupal Users Thread

Yeah the documentation with Drupal really helps with that problem.

New Affiliate and Drupal user

I'm in the process of affiliating and am intending on using Drupal as my CMS based on the recommendation from an IT friend and reviews read on-line. Just checking in to see if this thread is still active.

My main problem right now is figuring out how to sync my live site and a development site I tinker with on my localhost. I've read through some other forum's and tutorials but am still not able to get the sites (local and live) to look the same after I attempt to migrate one to the other.

I'm a drupal newby.

Thanks in Advance.

Hi. Can you give us a link link to the live site and a screenshot of the local dev version so I can see what is not syncing?
