York Glute Ham Opinions

Anyone out here have a York Glute Ham that they are willing to share opinions on. The price is very nice from a quote I received, basically I can get two of these compared to a Sorinex Model - mind you I love Sorinex equipment.

thank you for your thoughts

It is nice and will be the one that I choose to go with. The split pad is male friendly and the whole thing is pretty much bomb proof. Well made peice of equipment for sure.

Love mine... It squeaks a little. But built like a tank.

I have the Sorinex and the York GHD. Go with the York and buy two for the price of the Sorinex. Both are great.

Re: York Glute Ham Opinions

I got my York GHD for $600+shipping by looking around. retailmenot.com is an invaluable asset.

My experience with the york is this:
It is bombproof, and will never break in my lifetime.
It weighs a ton, and is hard to move around.
I wish the padding was a bit stiffer, even with the split roller the package still collides with the middle section, resulting in you needing to have one setting for GHD situps and a different setting, 1-2 inches closer, for back extensions. I am sure people prefer different settings for these two anyway.
The feet rollers do not adjust and are pretty far apart. I had to duct-tape towels around the bottom rollers so that my petite wife could use it WITH shoes. She cannot use it without shoes. I can use it with or without shoes, but only because of the towels. If anyone has a bright idea on how to increase the radius of the top and/or bottom rollers that is more elegant, let me know.
There is nowhere to put your feet when mounting the York GHD other than the lubricated central beam. That is gross. It is also scary and we have almost fallen off of it a few times for want of a step. I will likely buy one or two small step ladders at the hardware store to assist in mounting and arresting falls.

Overall I would buy it again if I found the same problems in other GHDs. It really is tough and wicked looking, we nicknamed ours The Rack.
Whenever I do Michael and begin to crap out, someone always yells "GIVE THE RACK A TURN".

Re: York Glute Ham Opinions

If you're looking for more of a budget friendly option (I know York's are decently priced too), Yukon sells a modest GHD for around $160. It seems solid enough for home/private use, but if you're going to be equipping a gym, I think you'd be wise to get the best of the best (York).

The Yukon also requires some tact if you're a male... not always friendly to the lower regions, but at least helpful in building pain tolerance
