Starting For newcomers to the CrossFit methodology

Hi all, this is my very first post and i'll try to keep it short. I'm am slowly making the transition from weight lifting to crossfit, the more i do it and read about it the more i love it. My question is how can properly incorporate a 5x5 routine (bill starr's) with crossfit. I am now fully aware that body part training and all that magazine stuff is crap but i still want to be able to strength train. Sorry this is so long but any help would be great

I think the most common way to incorporate strength training focused work is referred to as 'black box' workouts. Check the following three threads for info on this:

There may also be other hidden gems of threads from further back if you search the board for 'black box'.

Search the archives for "black box" or "ME workouts" like mentioned above, usually it's a rotation such as:
CF/5x5/CF/off/repeat...or how ever it fits into your schedule.
