Re: Can't Lose Belly Fat

Sorry about your marriage, but that helps explain the 15-beer-weekends.

These guys are giving some great advice. Whole foods, lots of them. Lift heavy.

My diet is really good (I believe) - breakfast is about 5-10 macademians, 6 oz of raspberries or 16 oz of strawberries & 5-7 pieces of Jerky (though I am not consistent w/ grass feed jerky).

Lunch is spinach salad w/ chicken breast, blueberries or grapes, sunflower seeds and homemade oil-based dressing.

Snacks are usually a piece of fruit or two and I have been trying to incorporate paleo kits (have to buy some more).

Dinner fluctuates, as I have two kids, but it is getting better.

My problem is beer and wine. I need to buck up and cut them both out -- starting tonight!!

Only problem is the Stanley Cup Playoffs begin on Wednesday! That and my marriage is on the rocks (that sometimes happens when your wife cheats on you and you have a 2 and 5 year old - I can only laugh at it now as I spent about a month crying)!

dan if you're not abusing alcohol and you enjoy it with friends why bother cutting it out just to get to an arbitrary BF % number? (i could've sworn i wrote this already but i guess i didn't submit it) now if it's a crutch and being abused i could see completely cutting it out.

as for your wife problems, more reasons not to cut out beer and wine. a glass or two of wine or an ice cold beer at times can pick the spirits up. good luck brother that's brutal especially with little kids involved, you can't just walk away from her, you're tied to her financially for the better part of 20 years so you gotta make something work.

Re: Can't Lose Belly Fat

I guess that was my point of starting this thread. I'm not going to stop drinking. I love beer and, really, all things alcohol. However, I know people that have similar drinking habits and workout far less, and not as intensely as I do, but they look better.

I didn't know if I was doing something wrong or if it's just that I'm not as lucky as some people who have to work far less hard to achieve the same results.

It's called genetics.

AKA too bad because life isn't fair.

the biggest thing is genetics, nutrition, program are great and all but you can only work with what you have. look at many NFL athletes, many grew up poor with terrible diets (diets in low income urban areas are notoriously bad with fast food and high sugar as staples) to say the least and still managed 6'2+ 225 lbs 6% BF and running a 4.40 40. i mean i could train ten lifetimes and never get there.

don't compare yourself to genetic freaks of nature it will only depress you.

Re: Can't Lose Belly Fat

Alright, Dan is eating a pound of strawberries for breakfast. Am I the only one who thinks that's not a very good idea? I'm all for fruit, especially for active people. But that much, alone, first thing in the morning?

He specifically said he was also eating macadamia nuts and jerky. The 'or' referred to eating either raspberries or strawberries with those two previous foods. A pound of strawberries is only about 150 calories anyway, and provides a pretty huge hit of vitamins and fiber.

The amount of calories and carbs in 16 oz of strawberries is minimal. And, your stomach doesn't care if you eat strawberries at 6:00 am or at 4:00 pm.

+1. I'm as close to anti-fruit as you can get and I don't have a problem with a pound of strawberries. As already stated, very little kcals, carbs, or sugar in even a pound.

Eat meat, leaves, and berries and you will get lean.
