Wall Ball DIY Targets

I've noticed in some of the CrossFit Boxes a Wall Ball Target (Black Circular piece of steel is what it looks like). Does anyone know what it's made out of or if there's any DIY site on how to make one? I would like to make one for my garage box.

Thanks in advance.

How about a peice of duct tape on the wall. 1 minute and $0.02. Let the 6,000 sqft affilliates spend the money on the fancy target, and save your time and cash for equipment that matters, like bumpers.

Just sayin'.

This is what I would do too or some sort of cool colorful decal.
Instead of metal why not a piece of thin wood and then paint it whatever color you like and then drill it into the wall.

There is also the option of hitting up and antique type store and getting an old metal sign or something? I dunno

Re: Wall Ball DIY Targets

I actually wanted to create it so I wouldn't put damage to my garage wall. Unfortunately, my walls are dry wall and not brick. I figure the target would help reduce some of the wear and tear of my wall. Right now, every time I throw my Dynomax ball I feel like I'm shaking the house.

Either one, your garage has some serious structural stability issues or two, you have some kind of weird wall ball form.

Most people throw the ball up, it kind of touches at the 10ft mark, then falls back down. I don't see how you could be shaking the house or damaging walls with a wall ball throw.

Re: Wall Ball DIY Targets

how much money are you looking to toss at this target project?
  • Cheap adjustable basketball hoop off Craigslist in working order - $25
  • Sheet of 3/4" plywood - $20 (depending on your taste)
  • Spray paint - $3

  1. Remove rim and backboard from adjustable frame
  2. Cut plywood to desired size/shape
  3. Use backboard as template for marking holes to be drilled on the plywood
  4. Sand and apply a base layer of paint (or go all out and paint it real nice) to plywood
  5. Spray paint some wicked cool target(s) on the plywood
  6. Fasten to frame using old hardware (or new your choice) from backboard

Boo bam! after an hour and a half of work you have an adjustable height wall ball system capable of handling up to 3 athletes at a time that can also be taken down and stored all for less than $50. Maybe not an idea you're looking for, but, I like it.

Re: Wall Ball DIY Targets

I have the same problem in my apartment gym with the plasterboard walls. I attached a full sheet of plywood to the wall from the roof down. Its perfect for wall balls and HSPU`s without damaging the Drywall and its cheep as chips too!!

Re: Wall Ball DIY Targets

Old thread but in case anyone is still wanting to make this. I took a piece of plywood cut it to a circle, covered the whole thing with some funky superman duct tape then attached it to a 10ft 4x6. Then I attached the 4x6 all the way down a stud so its rock solid.
