Paleo possibly bad?

So I officialy got my dad to start the 30day paleo challenge today, and I told him that I would do it with him, 1 for fun :P I enjoyed the challenge during the summer, 2 to be a bit supportive for him I figured, but he seemed hesitant of me doing it again because he thinks I would lose to much weight. I don't really know much about diets and all so I was wondering could I lose weight if I do paleo again, and not like a pound or two I mean like 5 or something.

I weigh about 137 now and am more interested in performance for crosscountry since we have a some big races at the end of the month and I want to do well.

Thanks,
Alec Kellish

Re: Paleo possibly bad?

Alec,

Paleo is just about the most natural way of eating. Will you lose weight? It all depends on your current body composition. At your age everything in your body is pointing towards growth. Stick to the paleo prescription and eat as much as you possibly can. Maybe right down a days worth of eating a post it here. This will give us a better idea.

Re: Paleo possibly bad?

Paleo benefits everyone. My buddy was skinny (And already doing CF) when he started Paleo. The first time he lost 15lbs! No clue where the fat loss came from, but he also got stronger/faster so he was building muscles too.

Now on his second round of Paleo diet (he was less-strict in between) he's focusing on more muscle, so is really shoveling in the protein. He's gained 5lbs and is even stronger.

So...do Paleo and the right thing will happen naturally. Excess fat will be lost, muscle will be gained, and performance will increase Paleo isn't a fad diet, it's a lifestyle, and unlike those other fad diets its primary focus is not weight loss at all costs but better health and fitness.

Dude, you're 137lbs. Eat your meat and drink your milk and don't worry too much.

Re: Paleo possibly bad?

Focus on body fat and muscle mass not body wieght.

You can use paleo to gain wieght not just to lose wieght. But since your looking for performance less body fat and more muscle mass is what you need.

Young Dude;

Major kudo's for joining the CF community, but please keep things in perspective. Eating needs to be fun, if you're running CC, it should be fun, chasing girls should be a major WOD and should be fun. Fun, eat/train/sleep/study/fun, and appreciate your parents. Repeat every day for the next 20 years, you'll be a very cool dude.

PS. just my typical b/s rant, ok to ignore.

The 30day challenge was fun ((eating wise)) because i got to eat like steak and chicken all the time so it was delicious, and so far about the fun aspect i dont have time for girls atm
My schedule is school then XC practice, time for food , homework, bed...

but! after the end of the month i should have more time!!
