Meatheads at globo gym

I have been doing crossfit for close to a year now, my CFT is 795, i wiegh 185#. unfortunately do to my budget i am forced to perform my WOD's at the local "globo gym", the company i work for gets a discount there, its not planet fitness by the way. slamming weights is accepted here. None of the test pumped employee's seem to mind my methods, as of recently i have had a 155# training partner joining me, who i have converted from typical body builder workouts to cross fit. he was doing his second dead lift ever today, and hit 245#, form wasnt perfect but he is a rookie. while in the distance some juiced up meathead decided to crudely comment on his form, this guy having atleast 100#'s BW over my friend must have thought he was pretty tough, we ignored him to complete our CFT. it is difficult for me to deal with that situation, i really want to challenge this guy to a fran or helen something with minimal wieght so he looks more silly when it is over. is it really worth the hassle? i feel he would make excuses to get out of it or try to start a fight, like most people of that stature.

Tell him you and your friend don't appreciate being checked out during your workout.

No, it's not worth the hassle. Do what you know is best and ignore the dude. Anyone worth their salt would be praising people for doing deadlifts/squats. So few people do them.

Just keep your head down and do the work. I love Crossfit, but I'm not a big fan of the "we are better than you" attitude. I've certainly seen some ridiculous things when I used to work out at golds, but you really shouldn't develop a judgmental attitude. Just be positive and focus on your workout.

Please don't. It's unlikely he'll care.

Re: Meatheads at globo gym

You said yourself that your friend's form was off.

"Thanks, we're working on it. We appreciate your critique but perhaps you'd like to phrase it more appropriately next time?"

Or

Just keep your nose to the grindstone. It's not worth the hassle.

Ah, I completely relate to the feeling of wanting to put your boot in his butt. You know what though? I SO wish I had the Daniel-son vs. Johnny thing in my workout life.

Maybe you could go head to head with your friend a few times. That kind of healthy competition is addictive, attracts others, and breeds a certain kind of camaraderie. Have you ever seen Pumping Iron? The gym scenes, especially the pre-show one in the end, always make me wish I had partners to talk jaw with.

Re: Meatheads at globo gym

i appreciate the support on my decision, i guess the thing that bothered me the most is a 275# man sayin slick stuff to a 155# 19 yr old, i have never had tolerance for bullies, i was a heffer when i was in school, only a few years prior. but going through the the fire academy, EMS school, and following crossfit has taught me discipline i guess. hope i dont have to deal with this guy again.
