Starting For newcomers to the CrossFit methodology

I've been doing the WOD for about a month now, and I love how it beats the crap out of me. I was wondering if there was a structured version of crossfit, one that followed a set schedule where you would move through so many days with so many workouts and then cycle back through those again. Is there anything like that? I know I should just shut up and do the WOD, but was wondering what options I had. Thank you
PS - I have also researched the Blackbox ME, but was wondering if there were pools of exercises to choose from when putting together that program

welcom to CrossFit, the program designed to be wihout a structure.
There was a article in Mens Health, if you do a serach here you will find the link, that had a 10 day beginners program.
About the blackbox ME, choose basic strenght exercises: squat, deadlift, presses, snatches, clean and jerk etc.

Hi Gianni,

To add to Johan's comments, the schedule regularly cycles in the benchmark workouts such as the Girls, Filthy 50, the Tabata WOD's so you can "test" yourself against previous times. I truly believe that following the posted WOD allows for the best all-round GPP conditioning. Picking and choosing inevitably let's us focus on things we like. I, for one, will not willing pick a WOD that focus' on my weakness' but if it's posted, I'll do it. David

Basically, yeah. The random nature of CrossFit is an essential component, and you will find it makes CrossFit more exciting that way. It is easy to get bored of a defined cycle of workouts; sticking to the WOD will keep you guessing. Remember, routine is the enemy.

I completely agree with what everyone has said so far, and I too love going to the website daily to see what new challenge/torture I will be getting myself into. But, with that said, if you have a specific weakness you want to work on, maybe pick a workout that tackles that problem. I just started the ME Black Box routine, and if a ME day comes up on a day where I'm doing metcom, I'll chose another workout that focuses on pullups (my personal weakness). So especially if you're thinking about doing the Black Box, you choose a more metcom workout, but try to do something that you don't like/is your weakness, rather than something you know you're good at. Or, if you really want a schedule to see what you will be doing, go look at the archives and print out a month's worth of WOD's so you can see what's coming.
