JDC's Starting Strength log

Decided to give Starting Strength a go. You can get only so strong by just reading the book it seems...

First workout so used to decide on starting weights.

Squat
20x5x2
40x5x1
50x5x1
60x5x3

Bench
20x5x2
40x5x1
45x5x1
50x5x1

DeadLift
40x5x1
60x5x1
70x5x1

I decided that even though these were fairly comfortable better to give myself room to improve. Too many times I have tried to lift heavy only to find I cannot make steady improvements.

My form on squats is very poor. Wondering if I should just keep practicing with a light weight and do something like leg press in the mean time? And yes, I know its *** (To save anyone else from quoting).

Re: JDC's Starting Strength log

Good luck with the program, we all start somewhere!

Keep up with the light weight on squats. Video taping yourself and uploading the video to Youtube for a form check is one of the best things that a beginner can do, especially if you don't have a coach.

In the meantime, here's a fantastic series of videos that you should watch when you have the time: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_lis...3D688F10C4DE1F

Thanks for the encouragement Travis. Had a quick look at some of those videos and there looks like lots of good stuff I can try home to improve form.
