30 day: burpee to pull up challenge (+2 a day)

i was really inspired by the burpee challenge that i missed out on. so i thought it would be cool to come up with one similar but with a little extra twist. so i combined my two biggest weaknesses burpees and pull ups.

i decided to make this challenge only 30 days but instead of 1+1+1+etc... I figure we could double the intensity with 2+2+2+etc... so by the 30th day we'll be doing 60 burpee/ pull ups.

anyone up to the challenge?

I didn't notice the burpee challenge until it was unfathomable to buy in.
I like this new challenge and am in.
Starting today with 2.

cool to have you aboard James!

I guess i should clarify the movement to make sure there is no confusion:

First you do a burpee, but make sure you are under or near a pull up bar. when you jump up from the burpee you grab the pull up bar and complete one pull up rep. then you repeat the process beginning with the burpee again.

I can do that, but with the stipulation that they're jumping pullups. Pullups are depressingly weak for me.

burpee-pull-ups are my single favorite exercise, so sign me up! I was doing the original burpee challenge, but I was trying to do the squat challenge at the same time, and my knee started bothering me and I got behind so I called both of them quits. This one looks fun! I was doing a lot of my burpees during the burpee challenge as burpees-pull-ups, anyway!

That 100-day burpee challenge is nuts. I've got a few guys doing it, but no way on God's green earth you're going to see me trying that, especially during the speedskating season. I mean, that's just asking to get overtrained... heck, even at like day 60, that's 60 burpees one day, 61 the next day, 62 the next day, 63, 64, 65... no rest days, just do it. Then heck, you get to 90, 91, 92, 93...?

The human body needs rest to get better, not just a continuous stress.

I agree with Matt. My body needs some time to recover and adapt to the movement. I could foresee diminishing returns by the 10-12th day.

Though I love a good challenge, I don't see this as being a practical one. I feel that the human body would respond better to something like 5 burpee-pull ups 3x a week, +5 burpees each week.

Nevertheless, I'm on board. I want to see how many days I can go before I hit a wall and how my body will react.

I'm with you Matt. I dropped out for the same reasons. It's just asking for an injury (low back or shoulder). Burpee to Pull-up is a maybe though.

Re: 30 day: burpee to pull up challenge (+2 a day)

The way I was handling it on the burpee challenge before I dropped out, was to take my normal rest days, and then make up the missed burpees the following day. That's within the guidelines of the challenge, although Ted has yet to set the guidelines for this one. The volume of this one will never get high enough that doubling up the day after a rest day will be debilitating, so I think this is perfectly doable...
