I'm currently unable to do HSPU, but working on it. My short-term (winter training) goal is 10 HSPU.

Been on CF now for about 1.5 months. I know the sub for HSPU. Wondering what I can do to help me improve HSPU. I'm currently mixing in assisted HSPU (read legs on a smith machine) and standing presses.

Any other suggestions?

Do a ton of handstands. You need to get solid upside down before you worry about doing the PU. Just do handstands every chance you get.

I'm working up to HSPUs by doing negatives, partials, and kicking HSPUs (lower to or start in a tripod headstand, bend and tuck legs, then kick up while pushing).

Handstands and negatives got me there. I'd just hold a handstand against the wall as long as possible and then lower slowly, or do a headstand and push as hard as possible on the floor.

by no means an expert on this topic, but I learned by placing mats under my head to start me up higher, as i progressed i lost some of the mats, worked great from me but i am sure some of the gymnasts have better input on this.

I have been having some success with placing one leg on a ledge at about waist height. But Roger probably has the best advice.
