Simple question: Is there a difference between a woman and man's protein requirements?

its not a very big variation...I think the difference is 0.2-0.4 grams... It basically comes down to your age, and how active you are, as well as your goals... The RDA is as followed

Athletic group: protein requ:gram/pd of bw
elite weight lifters 0.6-1.3
strength athletes 0.6-0.9

endurance athletes 0.5-0.7
endurance runners 0.7
endurance body builders 0.5

Hope this answeres any questions...

I knew requirements vary according to activity levels. But how do they by age and by sex?

I think it's more accurate too base your protein requirements on lean body mass rather than total body weight. This will then take into difference the BF difference between men and women.

The link below has a calculator. It's family safe and discusses protein requirement.

The second link discusses difference in training requirements between male and female cyclists. It would suggest nutrient requirements are similar.. Again it's work/family safe.

I agree with Ger completely. I've found that protein requirements are relative to LBM and activity - gender does not seem to play a big role.
