Deadlift Form
New to the heavy Deadlift. This is 330lbs (double body weight plus 10lbs), and a PR. Right now this is the edge of my strength. I'm wondering if this is an acceptable degradation of form when at that edge?

Solid!
If I was super-critical, I would say your starting position could be tweaked slightly, as you'll see your hips rise slightly before your shoulders as you begin the pull. Hips slightly higher, then pull your chest up harder (without dropping the hips) to build a bit more tension in the starting position. I actually think the form was good enough, and the bar speed was quick enough to think it's not as close to the edge of your strength as you think. |

Damn strong pull for your BW and for your PR! I echo what Greg said, but again that is just being nit picky on an otherwise great lift.

Thanks Greg for the reply and the tip. Yeah, I can see my hips rising to that spot before the weight starts to move. At lower weights, where I have have more control, that hips-to-shoulder angle isn't compromised quite as early.
That would be cool if this weight wasn't really the ceiling for me. I guess I don't know about bar speed, because it felt pretty slow to me. It felt like the ceiling. I'm laughing at the end because it felt like my brain told my body, "It's cool if you want to lift this thing, but I'm going to go to sleep now". |
