Olive Oil vs. EVOO shooters

Just a quick question: I've been having trouble getting enough calories these past few days, and started adding some olive oil shooters throughout the day to up that. Is there a huge difference between shooting regular olive oil and EVOO?

The difference I've noticed is that Olive oil is significantly less offensive in taste, which enables me to down 4 tblspns without wanting to wretch; the same cannot necessarily be said about EVOO.

Just a question on what makes the two different; if signicant benefits could be had from eating EVOO, enough to make the taste and cost difference worth it, I would change over.

Why not eat more nuts? Specifically Walnuts or Macadamias? They have a better omega 3 ratio than EVOO anyway.

Re: Olive Oil vs. EVOO shooters

Thanks for the link; while it was an interesting read, what I got from it was that olive oil contains chemicals and is refined to remove some of the strength of flavor present in extra virgin olive oil. I suppose some might say that any kind of refining would take away from a food, though I would want to know what exactly happens and how much it affects the oil itself.

Extra virgin, for one, is more expensive, as well as tasting quite a bit more harsh to me. The obvious solution is simply to drink olive oil, yet I would be loathe to do so if lacks something nutrionally or is outright inferior in an obvious and important way, to the extra virgin sort.

Re: Olive Oil vs. EVOO shooters

Nick, I do eat nuts, but sometimes I just need a quick calorie boost, and it's easier for me to shoot some olive oil than to pack down a handful of nuts. Similarly, sometimes I just happen to have one and not the other on hand.

Thanks for the replies.

Re: Olive Oil vs. EVOO shooters

Macadamia nuts, spoonfuls of coconut oil, and almond butter will get the job done.

I've gotten used to the taste of EVOO. It comes over time.

Re: Olive Oil vs. EVOO shooters

I think 1 Macadamia nut for 1 fat block seems the easiest but I could be wrong.

You could take some of your EVOO and put it in a small container and add spices to it if you wish or all of it but adds flavor and good for cooking.

Re: Olive Oil vs. EVOO shooters

Cold pressed EVOO is what you need. It's like any other drink; they taste different, and you need to find one you like.

I drink Mezzetta. Fruity and bold.
