Help with Deadlift Form
I have never been able to do deadlifts properly. I have very tight hamstrings that don't respond to stretching. My back is also not straight to begin with. I know people recommend Romanian deadlifts, but when I try them I can't keep my back straight and it just doesn't feel right. I found the trap bar at the gym today and made a video. Be thankful for any feedback. Thanks.
If it's a lost cause, I'll just continue not deadlifting. https://youtu.be/P5lb8KF5c6E |

To be honest, I didn't see anything wrong with your lifts....If you haven't found success doing conventional deads, then I'd suggest sticking with the Hex bar. It will train your quads more but you can use it to refine your technique. Post a video using a standard barbell, and the forum can better provide guidance. |

Re: Help with Deadlift Form
Do you intend on competing?
Do you have a need for conventional deadlifts? If not then you can continue do what you are doing today. The only thing I would like to see is more of a neutral spine from your neck up ![]() You look up breaking the strongest link in the lift. If you have tight hamstrings then you need to start to foam role your legs from your calfs up. I would also use a hard ball lacrosse ball and role the soles of your feet. Over time with a little stretching you will be able to deadlift with no problem. You have a great fundamental to build on ![]() |

Re: Help with Deadlift Form
I started out with the trap bar and found it helpful. I recently started using the regular bar. How is this?

Re: Help with Deadlift Form
The camera is a bit close so we cannot see the barbell position over your feet and if it is touching your shins. Can't see your shoes either
![]() One thing i can say is that you rear lifts slightly first and then comes the pull, it was a bit rushed placing more pressure on your lower back. Your start position with your back/shoulders is rounded rather than locking them up and your head being a little high also makes a difference. if you get the chance to film this again so that we can see all of you would be great. |

Re: Help with Deadlift Form
Thanks. I'll try again next week. I was actually not wearing any shoes in this video b/c I had running shoes that are not flat.
