Towel pullups are listed as a substitute for rope climbs. I don't have a rope yet, but I'm not sure how the towel pullups are done. Is there a video? (didn't see one)

Loop a towel over your pullup bar. Hang it so one hand is lower than the other, do a pullup. Slide the towel over the bar so your other hand is lower, do a pullup. Repeat.

I haven't had the good fortune of doing them, but the sub is listed at 1 towel pullup per prescribed foot of rope climb.

Good luck!

If you are at a gym use the rope thing for tricep extensions. Just put it over the bar and go at it like william said. One side lower, pull up, lower, pull the opposite (high) side down, pull up.

Once you get it down it is a pretty fluid movement.

Hmm, I just grip the entire towel for 5 pull-ups then changed hand grip for the next 5. Guess I have a new way to try it when it comes up again, thanks.

i do it differently. i start with one hand above the other, and as i am coming down from the pull-up i leave go with the bottom hand while simultaneously sliding the top hand down, then taking the hand i left go with and placing it above, then starting the next pull-up. i don't know if this is correct, but it is how i have been doing them for a while now.
