Re: Trouble with Double Unders

I did as buddy lee suggested, by trying "single, single, double" and repeat. It taught me to recover from the double smoothly so I wouldn't get all cockeyed and lose control.

Now that I can do them, I mainly just try to focus my eyes in one spot and concentrate on keeping my hands in position and my rope barely scraping the ground so I don't drift my arms up and catch my feet up in the rope.

Yeah hearing the tap-tap of the rope on the floor is really helpful.

Re: Trouble with Double Unders

Thank god for this thread!! I've never been able to do DU's. I strung 10-12 in a row ONCE but can barely get 2-3 anymore. On the open WOD, it was taking me close to 2 mins to get 30. Was a lot of cussing and yelling during those 2 mins too.

Can't wait to try some of the tips!

Nice, those are what I'm working on right now. Have you been able to string them? That's what I'm finding hard. Personally I'd like to see mainpage come out with triple unders in a workout. I like it when they raise the bar an introduce new skills. Plus then all the tuck jump subbing whiners won't have a legit sub an may actually be forced to learn a new skill... Oh NOz!

It was with one of those wicked fast wire ropes. I'm not sure if I could manage it with my regular speed rope.

Re: Trouble with Double Unders

A buddy of mine just got one of those new wire ropes from like sweden or something. I tried it out and it's way easier on the arms and shoulders and even faster than my standard speed rope. I was impressed and think I may get one.

At the Canadian Regionals last year (I think Regionals... the Canadian Finals) they didn't allow those wire ropes for the WOD with double unders in them.
