How to live to 1000

Science article in news here http://health.ninemsn.com.au/healthn...l-live-forever (wfs)

I'm curious what you all think of this!

A couple of things that cross my mind:
1) If the medication (for lack of better term) will boost our immunity, will general doctors be made redundant? If so, could similar 'medication' make us stronger or faster or impossible to kill? How do you stop that in a crime sense other than breeding a specific team for crime stopping?
2) If people live longer, won't the population rapidly increase and we run out of space / resources?

Is there really any advantages to this?

Do you think if everyone ate properly and exercised properly that our average life expectancy would increase anyway?

Re: How to live to 1000

People need to die when it's their time. If I die on my way to the gym, then so be it. People living longer will increase the population, but that's where Soylent Green comes into play.

And I don't know the exact story, but I know there are some instances where someone is cursed with eternal life. I see no benefit to living 1,000 years.

I think calling Aubrey de Grey a "scientist" is an insult to the profession. Life extension on the scale he's talking about requires major breakthroughs in several fields, none of which is his area of expertise. (His training is in computer science.)
