Ice baths are the ticket. Turn on the faucet and dump in a bag of ice. I used to have to do this when I played football in college, after 3-a-day practices in fall camp you feel like you can't move. Fifteen minutes in an ice bath and the soreness is gone. I'm not saying it's fun; to be useful it has to be pretty freaking cold (50-55 degrees), but you start to get numb after a few minutes...

From what I've heard on the subject, you're supposed to end with cold. Reference being from Steven Low's posts and an article on power athletes magazine (Tyler Hass and such contribute to it (well, if it's still active, that is)).

You are absolutely right derek. My shower unfortunately doesn't get cold after a certain time, so I have to start with cold and end with hot.
