Re: $135 Squat Stands

I have these stands and love them. As Glenn has stated, they are great on the bar and they don't move. They do not adjust low enought to do bench press from a standard 19" flat bench, but I built some simple platforms from 2x6's and 2x4's in short order and they work great. Easily moved out of the way and easy to put together. The stands are highly recommended!

Re: $135 Squat Stands

How high was the platform you built so that you can bench with them?

Thanks

Re: $135 Squat Stands

Here's a couple of pics of it. The platforms are 5"tall, 29"wide, and 10.5"deep. I was wrong in my previous post in that it is all 2x4 construction. They took about 1/2 hour to make and are glued and screwed. Very steady under my new, York flat bench--which is great! I threw on the handles just to make moving them around easier.
I'm not a big guy and I don't lift huge weights, but if you are/do, a cross member underneath might be worth the effort just for the extra support. Hope you like and can use the idea.

Re: $135 Squat Stands

Regarding the thread title...

I just got a quote for these stands: $195 for the stands and $130 shipping to S. California. So a bit more bank than originally posted last year.

Re: $135 Squat Stands

I bought this Powerline squat rack yesterday on Craigslist for $75, and the guy delivered it to my house. It's never been used (until yesterday.)
It's pretty nice! I like that it's braced together at the bottom. I was about to make some bucket-concrete-notched-2X4 stands, but I stumbled across this.
I think even for $125 it's a pretty good deal.
(That cheesy guy is not me.)

Re: $135 Squat Stands

So what's the best option for a bargain rack that will also work for bench press?
