Body Solid Bumper Plates question

Hello everyone!

I'm new to CrossFit and was hoping someone could give me some advice.

I'm looking to buy some 45 pound bumper plates for as cheap as possible. I can't afford the higher priced ones. I don't plan on dropping the weights as I'll be using them in my house and my floor wouldn't be able to handle the impact.

Anyone used or know if these are pretty good?

Body Solid Bumper Plates - 45 lb Pair - Black - $109. plus shipping.

Thanks in advance friends!

Ryan

Not very helpful. Do you have a link? And are they solid rubber bumper plates or metal with rubber coating?

Then why get bumper plates and not just some cheap steel plates?

Exactly. save your money and get some iron from craigslist, then use that money to invest in a quality bar.

If you're buying bumpers because you think you will eventually be able to drop them, I still wouldn't go with body solid... they aren't generally what I'd call a high-quality brand. At $109 plus shipping for 45's, you're not saving much (or maybe not saving anything). Pendlay econs can be had for $155 INCLUDING shipping (maybe less through csn stores) and are very, very high quality. Rogue, wright rubber, and troy also make high-quality bumpers for similar prices.

HI Jared,

Thanks for the feedback (others too). I plan on eventually dropping, thus not going with the steel plates. I'm looking for a new house and one of my requirements will be an outdoor garage that I will turn into a place to workout (and thus the need for dropping).

Guys, you are seriously talking to a newbie here. I've attended 8 free CF classes at my local CF place (free for me, my company paid). But, now it's over with and i'm addicted to it all.

I've read plenty on Rogue, not sure it's in my price range. The max I can spend (including shipping) is roughly $175 for two 45's.

A fellow sent me a link to these he sales: http://www.fringesport.com/collectio...er-plates-45lb

It was $159 includes shipping. How does those Troy VTX compare?

Where can I find a link to these? Pendlay econs can be had for $155 INCLUDING shipping (maybe less through csn stores)

thanks my friends!

Jared - Is this the one you mentioned I should look at getting?

http://www.wayfair.com/Pendlay-45-lb...5-PNY1018.html

Only $129 with shipping. I think thats a winner...has anyone ever bought from this website? WayFair.com? It came up when I typed in "csn stores"

Re: Body Solid Bumper Plates question

The Body Solid bumpers appear to have brass rather than steel centers. I would avoid the weaker brass.

Thanks John! Will take your advice. What are your thoughts on the Pendelys link I posted? Less than $130...wondering if anyone has ever ordered from this site.
