Bumper plate thickness

Hi,
I've just ordered a 72inch olympic bar and now it has come I was surprised to see how short the ends of the bar actually are - 9.5 inches at each end (darn false advertising showing an 84 bar in the ad!). Anyway, I really want bumper plates, 2 x 20kg and 2 x 25kg (45lbs and 55lbs american I think) but I was wondering if (because they are rubber and not metal) bumper plates are excessively thick??
Searching through a few sites I'm yet to find one that gives the thickness of bumper plates and was wondering if a few of you could post thicknesses of your 45s and 55s so I have some idea - I say a few as they probably vary with each manufacturer. I've already found the site (UK) that I'm going to purchase from, but they don't specify thickness.
Thanks a lot
J

Re: Bumper plate thickness

Thanks man (looks like loading up much past 225lbs is going to be cutting it very finely indeed)
