Mayva's CFCC log

One very long first post! I kind of wish I had been keeping better track throughout my pregnancy because this whole experience is kind of like going through puberty again - body is full of surprises!

back from the cape late today, decided to squeeze in some exercise to shake off the long car ride. And start logging!
A travel workout from the website 10 rounds -
5 rolling pistols each leg, 5 tuck jumps, 5 burpees. The belly vetoed the tuck jumps in round 1, the bottom vetoed the rolling pistols by round 2, haha. So ended up doing 10 candlestick rolls, 5 burpees 16:30

25 weeks

8 mile run on the treadmill, 1:28 or 11 min/mile average. I absolutely hate long runs on the treadmill but it was way too hot by the time I woke up, so this was as much about my patience and pride as my legs!

Work is really interfering with my workouts! Two terrible nights of sleep = one lazy workout this morning. 30 mintes on the recumbent bike, while playing drop 7. Yes I was one of those people today.

Still super tired and feeling pretty blah... Easy 2 mile run. Left work early with every intention of going to afternoon crossfit, but found myself pedaling home for an afternoon nap. Even the baby has been kicking around less so I guess we are both just in need of more rest this week.

This morning I felt rested for the first time all week. Decided to do a slightly longer yoga practice in lieu of regular quickie practice then dashing out to run or crossfit. Felt wonderful! By the end of the day I was still zonked. More rest!

Slept in till 8am! Decided to brave the workout of the day at 11am, glad I did. I scaled it way back, finished in around 22 minutes. Felt a little guilty for finishing so quickly!
5 rounds - 15 thruster (scaled from 95lb to 33lb), 400 meter run

What a difference the weather makes. 9 mile run, 1:39 averaging just shy of 11 minutes, heart rate avg 140. Test drove my new belly support band - no chafing! Belly has not actually been bouncing, but thought this might help take some pressure off the bladder. Was tempted to push for 10, but decided to save that for next weekend.

26 weeks
Pull ups -
Sets of 2 - av, lb, LB + 2.5, lb + 2.5
Metcon - every minute for 12 minutes
3 pullups (LB), 5 pushups, 10 jumping lunges.
Score: 2 (Failed to complete lunges on last 2 sets.)

Deadlifts - peak of 2, stayed at 165lb for 3 sets
Metcon - 5 rounds - 5 deadlifts at 125, 10 burpees.
Score: 5:50
Ok so my left hip has been sore and tight as of late. And I def felt it right in the butt! I think Jeff is right - pisiformis acting up. Seems totally unfair considering how much time I spend in pigeon pose and various other hip openers precisely to counter the effects of running on the glutes! Hoping this was not a bad idea for today...

Strength - Press
Sets of 3 - 33, 48, 58, 60.2
Metcon - AMRAP in 10 minutes
10 overhead squat (sub front squat at 65)
3x up/down the stairs.
Score: 4 rounds plus 10 squats

Running class. More amazing weather! Cool 70s, running felt really good today
3x 1 mile with 2 minute rest
8:50 (1.05)
8:42 (1.05)
4:24 (800 meter)

27 weeks
Long run - 10 miles
Was so tempted to quit at many times in the run! Lower right belly was aching, managed to talk my self into sticking it out and after 3 miles thankfully the pain went away. Around mile 6.5 my knees started reminding that carrying 13lb is exponentially more joint stress. Despite the painfully slow start still averaged just over 11:10. Miles 4-9 got a nice grove of running a mile then walking 30 seconds.

Strength: Pull-ups - peak of 1, light band + 8.5lb
Metcon: AMRAP 20 double unders (subbed 60 singles), 10 pull-ups (light band), 10 american kb swings (1pood).
Score: 2 rounds + 10 pull-ups

Wanted to go to class this morning but work just got in the way. Boo. Made it home from Jersey at a reasonable hour, tired but did the posted endurance workout.
1 mile warm up
Intervals of 1 minute max effort, 1 minute rest, decreasing rest to 50, 40, 30, 20, 10 seconds. Wow that last interval was tough!

Strength - Press, peak of 1, 65lb
Met con - Jeremy (21, 15, 9): overhead squat 95/65 (scaled 35lb), burpees
Time - 6:30
Been shying away from overhead squats as my balance/stability has grown increasingly wonky, but this was an easy weight so I could concentrate on perfect form. Shoulders felt very stable throughout, only fatiguing in the last few reps. Could probably have managed 45lb.

Rest! Prenatal massage with a very nice glute rub!

28 weeks
Strangely woke up at 6 after a late (for me!) night. Feel tired and mentally exhausted from the week, but oddly energetic to do my run and crossfit. Magic effect of massage?

4 mile run, nice and easy (11:10 avg, 135-140 bpm)

And then crossfit!
"dirty 30"
And what didn't I scale?!
30 box jumps (step ups)
30 jumping pull ups
30 American kb swings (12 kilo)
30 walking lunges
30 knees up (L raise)
30 good morning (33lb bar on back)
30 push press (33lb)
30 wall balls (14 lb)
30 burpee
30x3 single unders
Time - 18:18

Strength - floor press peak of 3@80lb
Metcon -
500m row
30 push up (knee)
30 box jumps (step up)
30 walking lunge w/20lb one hand
All the above again but 16 reps
Time: 12:06

Felt purdy strong on the floor today, well once I remembered to keep my shoulders nice and plugge9 in

Did the endurance workout posted for Monday, 3-4 x 800m with 2min rest
1 - 3:54 (.44)
2- 3:49 (.43)
3 - 3:53 (43)

Strength - back squat, peak of 5, 110lb
Metcon - AMRAP 10 minute
3 muscle ups (laughable! Subbed pull ups)
3 rolling pistols
3 handstand pushups (on the box, lb + mb)
Score - 5 + 6 RP

29 weeks
Strength - floor press 3-5 sets of 3, 78lb
Metcon - AMRAP 7 minutes
7 front squats (73lb)
20 double unders (5 attempts then 20 SU)
Score - 3 rounds

Crossfit endurance workout from Monday 8x200meter.

Longer intervals 5, 6, 7 minutes. 2.5 miles total

Strength: back squat, peak of 3 115lb.
Felt the right hip pop so called *it at 115.

20 ring dips (light band)
30 kb swings (russian 16kg)
20 ring dips (light band)
800m run
Time: 17:33
Those dips got hard really fast!

5.25 mile run, average just under 10 min/mile. tackled this as intervals of 1 mile run (9:30ish pace), 1 minute walk. Felt very good at the end, no knee or calf strain.

Re: Mayva's CFCC log

Week 9/10/2012 - 30 weeks

Strength: floor press peak of 3, repeat for 3-5 sets - 90lb for 3 sets.
Nice jump from last week!

Metcon: 3 rounds - 20 single arm rows, 40 suitcase walking lunges (16kg in one hand)
Scaled down to 12kg in the 2nd round, feeling like I wasn't controlling the weight and wobbly *in the last steps.
Time: 9:37

Yoga yoga yoga with plenty of inversions and restorative poses.
Sleepy, super thirsty AND nauseous... I think SOMEBODY is having a growth spurt!

Strength: back squat, peak of 3 @120lb
Finding that I just cannot get up out of the bottom of a squat when it starts to get heavy, sticking with 3-5 reps. Suspect it might have something to do with the loosening hips.
Metcon: 6 rounds - 150m run, 3 muscle ups (Pull ups with 2 MB)
Time: 10:59

Easy 2 mile run and lots of walking around the city.

Distance run day! Splitting the half marathon with a friend. Beautiful weather and a really nice run. Pleased with how I held up the first half - ended up running 6.85 miles in 1:10. Only 2 potty breaks, and no knee/foot/belly aches!

Re: Mayva's CFCC log

Week 9/17/2012
31 weeks - 2 more months (hopefully a bit less) to go!
Rest week - more of the sleepy/thirsties/nausea. Walked to work most days, lots of restorative poses at night. Growth spurt this week - 37" waist!!!

Phoenix for thd weekend. tricked the hubby into a little crossfit with me - half Cindy.*
7 rounds, knee push ups and 40lb assistance on pullups for me.

And today is the day I start swimming!*
12 laps. I did not drown. I also did not put my face in the water... I will save that for tomorrow!

1 mile run to warm up before getting in the water...
4x100 yards - mostly back stroke. Tried two laps of front crawl, then got*very panicky about the breathing.

Re: Mayva's CFCC log

Hey Mayva! Awesome log...cross fitting through pregnancy is interesting, huh? Anyway, I would consider eliminating the bench press from your repertoire at this point. Laying on your back isn't recommended (at least it wasn't when I was pregnant,) and I would imagine that adding weight in that position is not ideal this far along. As always, do what you're comfortable with, but that's just my two cents

Re: Mayva's CFCC log

Rachel - its interesting, the bench press has been one lift that has been most "predictable" - ie my strength has been consistent and belly doesn't seem to be in the way. but thats good feedback... she is getting bigger every day now!

Re: Mayva's CFCC log

Terrible night sleep. Walked home after work and talked myself into a little spin on the bike in exchange for drop 7. It worked! 30 minutes, 8 miles, felt much better after a little sweat.

Metcon: 50 toes to bar (sub knee tuck) 150m run For every time off the bar.
Time: 8:05 (broke into 2x15, 2x10)

Strength: back squat peak of 3, 108. Easy.
Metcon: AMRAP 15 minutes -
10 ring dips (light + mini)
10 burpees
10 oh walking lunges, each arm (20lb)

Re: Mayva's CFCC log

Swimming. I now have two pairs of goggles... In about 15 -
1x100 front crawl drill (4 breaths)
1x50 slide and glide (6 breaths)
1x100 back stroke
1x100 breast/side stroke
1x50 back stroke

EMOM 3 strict pullups, total 7 sets
L+M (3 sets), L+micro (2 sets), L (2 sets)
EMOM 3 presses, total 7 sets up to 90% max press (65 for me)
35, 40 (2), 45, 50, 55, 60
Either I was miscalculating my bar or my press is getting stronger. Last set still felt easy.
Metcon: 10 minute AMRAP pull up, 150m run for every time off the bar
Score: 68, kipping w/LB (sets of 25, 15, 16, 12)
Really surprised myself with that first set!

Strength: back squat, peak of 3, 115lb
Metcon: 15, 12, 9, 6 ring pu (sub 33lb press) and box jump (step ups)
Score: 5:09

Walkies! 3 miles. I'm embarrassed to include walking as exercise, but this morning it was about all I had energy for, throat is feeling terribly scratchy...

Swimming - 400, 11 minutes. Time to add some yards

Strength: press peak of 2, 68lb
Def getting stronger - pr'ed previous 1 rep max of 65lb.
Metcon: 3 rounds 10 press, 10 walking lunges each side with 30lb sandbag

That was a little too easy... Prolly should have tried 40.

This sore throat is really bumming me out... Just walked to/from work, 4 miles

Made it to noon crossfit yay!
EMOM press 2 reps, 12 minutes, 14 total. 63lb peak
EMOM pullups 2 reps, 12 minutes, 14 reps total. Light band + 2.5lb peak.

Had one round where I accidentally got 3 DU with singles in between. Cool.

Sore throat still dragging me down. More walking, 4 miles. Well everyone does say walking is great to get the baby in position, but still wish I had more energy today.

Score: 13:33
Perfect Sunday workout!
