It's not cheating. Elizabeth ripped on her pullups before the WOD! So, I gave her tape, and there was just no way to get through 75 KTEs even taped.

7/2/10

Some days - like yesterday when I deadlifted - I am very glad that I am not my own coach. Other days - like today - I question that logic and wish that I just did my own thing all the time, haha.

I had an ART/rehab appointment this morning. I assumed I would be shoulder pressing because that's what we've been working on. So, yeah, whatever...I ended up doing the WOD.

10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1
Thrusters (95/65 lbs, scaled to 65 lb front squats and 18 lb shoulder press)
Burpees
11:04

So, I used two bars, and it went 10 front squats, 10 press, 10 burpees...

Sigh. I don't mind doing WODs. But, I really want to get my 5x5x130 lbs front squat set in TODAY. Doing 55 front squats at 65 lbs first wasn't really on my agenda. And, why would burpees be on my agenda? UGH.

7/2/10 AGAIN

So, yes, I did go back to the gym to do my front squat work set. As much as I knew it was going to hurt, it's not like it will feel any better tomorrow. And, I want to take my rest day tomorrow and stick to my schedule.

Front squats:
5 x 45 lbs
3 x 95 lbs
1 x 115 lbs
5 x 5 x 130 lbs

This is 90% of my 1RM from May 17. I was literally shaking after the first set, and there was no way I wanted to get back under that damn bar. The third set was mentally horrible. I finished and my coach said she totally thought I was going to cry. Yeah. I really felt like puking before my last set. I guess it doesn't look nearly as bad on video as it felt in my head.

Thanks. I am really going to enjoy my rest day today. I'm doing back squats tomorrow, 5 x 5 x 155 lbs (1RM is 160, haha). And, then I am probably doing a deload week.

Sick front squats dude. Can't wait to catch you and then whoop your *** Unlikely but since I outweigh you by 20 pounds, I hope I can. Hey, did I mention I got to air squat for 6 rounds of 15 yesterday and IT DIDN'T HURT MY ADDUCTOR!

Tamara,

Like Meghan said - - slick front squats.

You may already do this (hard to tell in the vid...), but start your drive upwards out off the bottom of the squat just before you settle into the bottom. It almost looks like you settle into the squat at the bottom and then have trouble driving up out of it.....

Also, IMHO, really lead with your elbows (drive them upwards toward the ceiling) when you start up out of the squat......this will help keep your torso from leaning forward, keep your center of mass/gravity over your heels, and increase your power out of the bottom.

You are crazy strong to do 5 x 5s at 90%! AWESOME!

Please, I'm chasing my coach, and she only weighs 115 lbs. Damn strong midget woman.

Yay for air squats that DON'T HURT!
