Started Zone today STUFFED! is this normal?

I have more bf than I would like, so I decided to give the Zone a try. Based on the web site it says I should have 18 blocks, but a 5 block meal leaves me feeling stuffed and uncomfortable. Is this a normal feeling at first? Should I lower my blocks on meals and increase my blocks on snacks to compensate?

Did all your carbs come from veggies? Eating like 3-4 blocks worth of broccoli is insanely hard and will have you feeling pretty bloated. Please elaborate, my good sir.

Re: Started Zone today STUFFED! is this normal?

Sure, for breakfast I ate:

5 eggs (4 whites, 1 whole)
1 Apple
.5 cup salsa
1/2 whole wheat english muffin
1 tablespoon of peanut butter w/my apple

normally i ate just the eggs and maybe some cheese on them. Does my stomach just need to adapt?

for my snack I had

1/2 can of tuna
1 apple
6 almonds

this was fine but pre- zone i would eat normally just an apple and almonds

does this provide enough info?

Hmm, I'm not really sure. My guess would be that maybe you were grossly undereating before? Thus making this whole block thing feel like a whole lot of food?

I'd say just keep at it and you'll get used to it. Might want to get a little more input from some others on this, though.

What's your height, weight, estimated bodyfat, activity level, and goals? Without knowing any of those things we can't really tell if your block count is too high.

Re: Started Zone today STUFFED! is this normal?

Right,

height is 6'

weight is 205

bodyfat (last i checked was roughly 17%)

activity level was rated at moderate

I have done my best to eat "clean" on my own. Maybe you are right, I could have been undereating in the past. Obviously this zone diet works, but it feels like I've eaten too much and it's going to be counterproductive. Thanksk for the help guys!

Re: Started Zone today STUFFED! is this normal?

Hmmm...given those numbers 18 blocks sounds about right. I'm at 18 with 3x fat at 6', 180lbs, ~10% BF, and high activity level, though I'm eating all that fat because I'm trying to gain some weight. If you're stuffed eating that many carbs you can give Robb Wolf's trick a try--swap a few carb blocks out and replace each with 3 fat blocks. So your 18 blocks could look more like 18P/12C/36F for instance...the reasoning behind that method being that most people run more efficiently on lower carbs, lower carbs will force your body to burn stored fat for fuel, and it's a lot easier to eat fat blocks than to force 18 blocks of low-GI carbs down every day.
