Could you be more specific? I'm curious how you certify someone to stabilize their midline more other than lifting heavy things overhead, having correct posture throughout the day, squatting and deadlifting big with proper form....etc.

I'm hoping this is a free "cert" because honestly I would rather see people spend money on learning how to lift things properly, and the whole stablization thing takes care of itself. Form is not a "technique", it is mandatory for safety.

Certs are getting out of hand. You don't NEED a cert for EVERYTHING.

Hell, just hold a seminar or something. Is this something you really need a CERT for?

Maybe I'm too cynical though...

In all honesty, "seminar" would be a much more accurate word for many of the offered "certifications." Unfortunately, it sounds cooler to say that you're certified in something rather than to say you've attended a seminar on it.

By the way, I'm certified in Calculus II if anyone needs to learn some techniques for integrating their functions efficiently and safely.

Kelly Starrett is a smart, smart man. I'd love to see him lecture.

It is not a CFHQ Certification.

It is an independent clinic put on by K-Star.

I believe he wants to call it: "Better CrossFitting: Movement Mobility and Maintenance."

(Steve Richards, if you could stop referring to it as a Cert, we'd appreciate it. Thanks.)

This is a seminar not a cert.. my apoligies.. Steven Low -- Kelly has a ton of great info that will help anyone prevent injury.. If you think the certs/seminars are getting out of hand then that is your opinion.. Guys like Kelly and Dutch and all of the affiliates that hold these seminars are just doing so to better inform individuals. We all think we have great form, but we can all do better..

We need someone to certify "certs".

It's not like I'm bashing the info or the people -- I respect them both a lot. Hell, I'd actually go if I lived in the area and wasn't poor. It's always good to learn more.

It's just that there's so many now it's like wtf is the point of the whole thing. I dunno maybe someone can artiulate that better than I can.

Agreed.

Problem #1 is the usage of "certification" where seminar or clinic is actually correct.

Problem #2 is when something that is suppose to be special (ie, a certification that says: I am prepared and able to teach/coach people about this subect) is offered for just about everything, to just about anyone (who can pay), then that "thing" no longer seems so special.
